Sheffield filmfest to host Iran’s ‘Galena’

Iranian doc ‘Galena’ is to go on screen at the 2020 Sheffield Short Film Festival in the UK.

Iranian documentary ‘Galena’ has been selected to go on screen at the 2020 edition of the Sheffield Short Film Festival (SSFF) in the UK.

Directed by Ezzatollah Parvazeh, ‘Galena’ is about a lonely, old woman living in an uninhabited village in the heart of a desert.

The village, which is a few thousand years old, is home to some miners.

The old woman spends her time living with the miners and has nightly conversations with her woolen doll.

The Iranian documentary has been presented at some global events, including the 2020 Sheffield International Documentary Festival in the UK.

Run by Sheffield filmmakers, the SSFF brings together international short films to a diverse audience and celebrates the works of new and established filmmakers.

The 2020 edition of the event was previously slated for May, but due to the coronavirus outbreak, it was rescheduled for October 30-November 1.
